The SW regional 2008 meeting will be held on the Biola University campus on tax day Tuesday, April 15. The opening and closing plenary sessions feature Dr. Todd Johnson, Director of the Center for the Study of Global Christianity at Gordon Conwell Seminary and co-author of World Christian Encyclopedia (Oxford Press), and World Christian Trends (William Carey Pub.). In addition a number of papers explore various facets of the topic, ³Majority World Mission Initiatives²-- the growth of mission outreach and organizations in the non-Western world. Presenters come from Sri Lanka, Korea, and Africa as well as the U.S. A number of other papers from presenters who could not attend will be available electronically.

Plenary Speaker

Since 1989, Dr. Todd M. Johnson has been a full-time researcher on the empirical status of global Christianity, and before coming to Gordon Conwell, he was the Director of the World Evangelization Research Center (WERC) in Richmond, Virginia. He has also been with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) since 1978 and has performed various ministry tasks in over 30 countries, including relief work among Cambodian refugees in Thailand, inner city work in San Francisco, evangelism in villages in Guatemala, and field-based research in Asia. He is co-founder of the Christian Futures Network, a professional member of the World Future Society and a member of the American Academy of Religion (AAR). He is a contributor to the Encyclopedia Britannica Book of the Year and the International Bulletin of Missionary Research.

Registration Biola Sutherland Hall Students--$5 Others-$10 If EMS membership is applied for with regional meeting registration, the annual fee is reduced from $30 to $20. Members receive the Occasional Bulletin of the EMS, and the annual EMS volume published by William Carey. This year¹s EMS book will focus on short-term missions and members will receive their copies at the national conference in late in 2008.
