EMS memberships are based on the calendar year rather than actual dates. When you subscribe to a one-year membership, you are essentially subscribing to the current calendar year. For example, if, in 2021, you join or renew your membership between Jan 1-the first day of the national conference, you are selecting a 2021 membership (with all of its benefits) and your membership expires Dec 31, 2021. The only exception is for those who join/renew after the national conference but before Dec 31 of the given year; those membership extend through the following year.

This calendar year system simplifies the membership renewal process (everyone expires on the same day) and allows each membership to have the same benefits per year of membership (receipt of one annual EMS monograph and a registration discount for one national conference).
